Wrinkled Faces
Sometime after 9/11
I have always been fascinated with older
people and the wrinkles on their faces. To me, each line and dimple tells a
thousand tales.
I met an older woman in a small village in Pakistan during an assignment following 9/11 that required me to travel through some really difficult war-torn regions. She was known as Mai, meaning an older woman or mother. In only a few moments I spent with her, it gave me enormous courage to handle what followed. I clearly remember how her kindness and sincere smile completely calmed my otherwise tangled nerves even though momentarily.
